ABOUT US

Mornings are a blur of snoozed alarms, quick breakfasts, last-minute outfit changes and existential crisis over whether to wash your hair or not. Between figuring out what to wear and debating if you can take another day off, having an elaborate 10-step makeup routine is simply off the table. Why spend forever in front of your mirror when a 5-minute makeup routine can do the trick?

This is your 5-minute glow up guide for an effortless makeup look that’s cute enough to make people believe you are totally slaying it. Whether you're headed to your class or your daily 9-5 grind, this quick routine will help you look polished in just 5 minutes.

The Ultimate 5-Minute Makeup Routine

You don’t have to use a gazillion makeup products to look your best in the morning. And now that summer is here, this quick routine also doubles as a summer makeup routine for oily skin to keep you looking fresh and oil-free.

Step 1: Second Skin Foundation: A Weightless Base

Foundation literally sets the foundation for your makeup (pun intended). For a base that serves my-skin-but-better realness, a sheer, breathable foundation is what you need. You need a foundation that feels like a second skin and blends easily with your fingers, because ain’t nobody got time for brushes in the morning. Focus on areas that need a little coverage, like under the eyes, around the nose, chin, or any blemishes.

Step 2: Blush: A Cream Blush That Multitasks

Hey, you NEED a cream blush in your life. Just dab a little on your cheeks and nose and blend it out with your fingers for a soft, sun-kissed, summer makeup look. There’s a particular blush stick I’ve personally been loving; the Nebula Cream Blush by Dream Beauty. It blends in with a few taps and the shades feel like they were plucked from a quiet sunset. Perfect for mornings when you don’t want to think too much. And here’s a little hack: dab your blush on your eyelids too, because multitasking is the name of the game.

Step 3: Highlight: Glow Up in Seconds

Highlighter adds that little bling to your look; the one that gives you an instant glow up. Especially, liquid highlighters that not only look natural but also don’t leave chunky glitter everywhere. Apply a tiny bit to the top of your cheekbones, bridge of your nose, brow bone, cupid’s bow and inner corner of your eyes. And if you are feeling a little extra, you can even mix a drop into your foundation for a dewy look.

Step 4: Eyeliner: Winging it

If you’ve got an extra 30 seconds and want to eyes to look defined, eyeliner is all you need. A quick flick of liner can take your look from casual to chic in no time. Whether it’s a clear, bold line along the lash line or a sharp, tiny wing, a waterproof eyeliner instantly gives your eyes more definition.

Step 5: Mascara: A Few Coats are Enough

If your alarm didn’t open your eyes up, a mascara definitely will. Even if you you’re your eyeshadow or eyeliner, mascara gives your eyes definition and instantly opens them up, adding instant charm to your look. Just one or two quick swipes of a smudge-proof, water-resistant mascara are enough to make your eyes look pretty for the rest of the day.

Step 6: Lipstick: The Final Touch

The beauty of lipstick lies in its ability to somehow pull your whole look together. Just a swipe of color on your lips, and suddenly you look even more put together. I like the Intuition Lipstick by Dream Beauty for days I want that soft and creamy matte finish on my lips. A deeply pigmented lipstick that glides on smoothly and leaves your lips hydrated with a pop of color is all you need, trust me on that.

Wrapping up

You don’t need 25 products and a makeup artist’s vanity setup to ace your look; just these 6 steps and 5 minutes. Because beauty isn’t always about standing out, but sometimes it’s also about feeling a little more like yourself when you look in the mirror. And with this routine, you’ll be out the door in no time while looking fresh and radiant all day long. Isn’t that the ultimate goal? Now go out there and own your day, because you’re summer ready!
